Dr. Norma Pestano completed her medical degree from the Universidad Central del Este, San Pedro de Macoris, DR. For the past 35 years, her passion has been to research nutritional deficiencies that lead to various diseases. She is certified as an orthomolecular nutritionist developing a holistic supplement protocol approach based on sex, age, weight, disease state, and nutritional status. Her medical interest in the immune system and cancer has led her to complete various studies in both humans and animals, using an immune modulator, Imuno-2865®. She continues to research and seek the most current herbal combinations to make formulations that are safe and effective.

In 2012 Norma, along with her family, launched Natural Necessity. "Every child admires their parents and wishes to walk in their foot steps", Norma states, "and although I will never fill my mothers shoes it's an honor to learn, experience, feel first hand and now continue her life's work!"

With a Master of Arts in Human Sexuality Child and Family Studies from New York University School of Education and a Bachelor of Arts dual undergraduate degree in Spanish Literature & Psychology from Syracuse University, Norma has an extensive background in entrepreneurship and family healthcare.

From 1995 through 2002 she worked with Vita-medic, Inc., in Queens, NY, where she managed and controlled all business operations of this Hispanic vitamin company, including patient therapy and counseling, order intake, sales and distribution.

Fluent in Spanish and English, Norma produced and hosted El Show de Norma Ashley in the Dominican Republic from 1995-1999. This Spanish talk show centered on youth issues and problems in the community and aired locally in the Dominican Republic on Channel 13 and on Telemundo Channel 47 in the United States.

Dr. Johanna Mejia-Fava has spent the past 10 years developing her expertise in marine mammal veterinary medicine. A graduate of Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine, she is completing her doctorate in marine mammal ophthalmology, and is also completing her three-year residency in zoo and aquatic medicine at the University of Georgia and Georgia Aquarium.

With so many species and organisms having different digestive tracts, and consequently different digestive needs, Dr. Mejia-Fava recognizes the important role that natural nutrition plays in maintaining health. Her interest in natural supplements led her to co-found Animal Necessity, a company devoted to providing natural supplements to support health and address common ailments afflicting marine animals, including ocular, liver, and kidney disease. Dr. Mejia-Fava's particular interest in in the immune systems many diseases in marine mammals and companion animals have an underlying immune component.
